I sit at the bottom of the lake, not breathing,
but not drowning.
I sit there as the water holds me down,
nobody pays me any mind.
As they are happy and don’t want to be bothered with someone like me.
Someone stops and looks down to see me.
They reach out to me, I reach back, but I cannot move.
They utter the phrase “Just breathe.”
But I do not, I sit there, in the water.
Not breathing, not drowning.
They give up and walk away. I don’t wave bye,
I just sit there, in the lake.
Not caring, not breathing,
