After talking about healing and accepting that we are our own worst enemy at this point. You might be wondering what to do next? Well, I’ll be the first to admit it, if you want to cry for hours on end go right ahead. Let it all out and understand that you want to take control of your depression and not let it take control over you. Like it did me for ten years of my life, time that I won’t get back, but something that I won’t hold on too anymore. So, once you’re done getting out all your feelings here are some things that you could do to start your healing process.
Listen to Music
One of my favorite things to do is listen to music and sing/rap along with the lyrics. Listening to your favorite tunes helps you ‘tune’ things out (Pun all the way intended) and it helps you forget about the world around you, even if it is for only a brief second it’s something. So, find your favorite artist, rock band, or group and just jam out until you can’t do it anymore. Then, sit down and take a fifteen-minute break. Trust me you’ll thank me for it later.
Binge-watch your favorite TV show.
There’s nothing like watching something that brings you joy like your favorite TV show. Mines is “How I Met Your Mother” and “The Wire.” I can watch these shows repeatedly and be feeling better at the end of the day. Right now, I’m currently on season 9 of HIMYM and I might go back to the Wire for like the eighth time. So, grab your favorite snack, sit in your favorite spot. And go to whatever streaming service has your favorites and get to Binging. –What’s dead may never die
Go for a Walk.
This one is quite simple, and you can combine it with listening to music. But just grab put on some comfortable shoes and walk around your neighborhood, park, or take a quick trip to the store. It doesn’t matter, walking is an easy exercise and you can enjoy the sun. Especially now that it’s not trying to murder you.
Read a book.
For some reason, my friends always said I sound aggressive when I say this. But diving into a world that’s not our own is a good way to escape. It doesn’t matter if it’s romance, thriller, fantasy, or Horror. Just pick it up and start reading it. Trust me they this world is with not wanting to read, I’m trying to save as many as I can people, so, please work with me.
